Leading the 32nd Annual ALCA Conference in New York April 14-17, Dianne McGraw, co-founder and partner of Home Care Solutions since 1991, understands the challenges faced by those who care for and provide services for our aging population. Drawing on over 35 years of expertise, McGraw who was elected 2016 president of the Aging Life Care Association™ said, “My goal is to advance our profession to be THE leading experts to meet the needs of baby boomer families and their aging family members.”
The Aging Life Care Association™, formerly the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (2016), is a national organization whose goal is the advancement of expert assistance to aging individuals and their families, ALCA’s Mission Statement clearly defines their initiative… “Leading the community of Aging Life Care Professionals™ through education, professional development, and the highest ethical standards.”
McGraw holds a Master’s degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) from Tulane University, specializing in health. She is a Louisiana Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) and is a member of the National Academy of Certified Care Managers (C.M.C.), the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the National Association of Social Workers.
Along with co-founder and business partner Betty L. Tedesco, their company provides non-medical sitter/companion services specializing in Alzheimer’s disease, as well as geriatric care management specializing in assessment, family consultation and tailored care for elderly and disabled individuals.
McGraw served as President of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (GCM) for the year 2000. Locally, she is an active member of the Rotary Club of New Orleans and currently serves as Past-President 2015-16. She is Past-President of the New Orleans Women’s Professional Council (2008), a member of the East Jefferson Business Association, and has also served as Adjunct Professor with Tulane University’s School of Social Work, teaching a graduate course in gerontology.
A frequent presenter on the topics of caring for aging parents and long-term care planning to various professional and health care organizations, McGraw contributed to a chapter on Geriatric Care Management in the book, “How to Talk to Your Senior Parents about Really Important Things”, by Theresa Foy DiGeronimo (2001). She also co-authored the forward in the “Handbook of Geriatric Care Management”, by Cathy Cress (2001).
In 2012, McGraw and business partner, Betty Tedesco, were named Top Female Achievers by New Orleans Magazine. In 2002, she was selected by New Orleans City Business as one of 40 outstanding local women to be honored as Women of the Year. In 2005 she received the Adele Elkind Award from the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers for Distinguished and Professional Service in Geriatric Care Management at the local and national levels. She is also a past recipient of the Outstanding Chapter Member Award from the National Association of Geriatric Care Managers.
Membership in ALCA is open only to qualified individuals with specialized degrees and experience in human services, including social work, psychology, gerontology or nursing. Those who are at the Advanced Professional level of membership hold one of four ALCA-approved certifications. Only members of ALCA can call themselves Again Life Care Professionals.
